淡黃色黏稠液體，有特殊的肉桂香味。相對密度1.049（20℃/4℃），熔點-7.5℃，沸點253℃（部分分解），127℃（2.13Kpa），折射率1.6195，閃點71℃。易溶于乙醇、乙醚、氯仿和油脂，溶于丙二醇，難溶于水和甘油。在空氣中易被氧化成硅酸，能隨水蒸汽揮發。大白鼠經口LD502.22g/kg，大白鼠MNL125mg/kg，AD尚未規定（FAO/WHO，1994）。
用途
1.用作保Chemicalbook鮮劑，我國規定可用于水果的保鮮，按生產需要適量使用。還可作為食用香料。
